Nvidia has officially announced the GeForce RTX 5050 – the entry-level Blackwell‑based GPU, aiming to bring Nvidia’s latest Blackwell architecture to a more accessible price point for gamers seeking solid 1080p performance with next-gen features. The official specifications of the new GPU were unveiled on June 24, 2025, with desktop variants expected to launch in the second half of July and laptop variants already released.
The RTX 5050 features 2560 CUDA cores, 20 RT cores for ray tracing and 80 Tensor cores for AI acceleration. The GPU also offers 8GB of GDDR6 memory running on a 128-bit memory interface and a TDP of 130W and will require an 8‑pin connector. This provides a memory bandwidth of 320 GB/s. The GPU features a 2.31 GHz base clock and a 2.57 GHz boost clock. The RTX 5050 supports DirectX 12 Ultimate, PCIe 5.0 x8, 9th Gen NVENC/ 6th Gen NVDEC, DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, making it a feature-rich GPU.
RTX 5050 specifications:
Initial benchmarks show that the RTX 5050 offers slightly lower raw gaming performance compared to the RTX 4060, however the new GPU offers a substantial increase in AI performance, especially with DLSS 4 with Multi-Frame Generation. DLSS 4 with Multi-Frame Generation allows the RTX 5050 to outperform older-generation cards and even challenge the RTX 4060 Ti in supported titles. The RTX 5050 delivers superior ray tracing performance in Port Royal and Speedway tests compared to RTX 4060. All of the abovesaid suggests that the effective performance of the RTX 5050 in supported titles, especially with AI upscaling and frame generation, will be a key selling point.
Compared to its direct predecessor, the RTX 3050, the RTX 5050 is around 60% faster at 1080p, but slightly behind the RTX 4060 and Intel’s Arc B580 by around 7% and 2.5% on average, respectively. Benchmarks also show that the RTX 5050 delivers around 13% better performance than the RTX 3060 in 1080p gaming.
The official launch price of the RTX 5050 is $249. Nvidia has not confirmed the exact release date, although the company is planning to launch the desktop variant in the second half of July 2025. As for the laptop variant, the card is already shipping, starting at $999.
The RTX 5050 is a budget-friendly option that delivers a compelling mix of RTX features and efficient performance and, more importantly, its AI-enhanced capabilities, ray tracing support and affordable price makes it competitive and a strong contender in the mainstream gaming segment.
